The Philadelphia Eagles use the role of the underdog to rally themselves to victory against the Atlanta Falcons.

Looks like that will be the case again on Sunday afternoon. As the Eagles welcome the role as being underdogs again at home, now they want their fans to rally with them one more time.

The Eagles are welcoming all fans who were able to purchase “underdog” masks to wear them to the NFC Championship Game this weekend.

Doggone it, you better believe dog masks will be allowed at @LFFStadium this weekend. Just make sure to take them off when you go through security.#FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/0REb840ME7

— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) January 15, 2018

The German Shepherd masks that Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson and defensive end Chris Long wore after Saturday’s divisional round win over the Atlanta Falcons quickly sold out on Amazon.

The Eagles are currently 3.5-point underdogs to the Vikings in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, according to Westgate.

“When did Carson [Wentz] go down? Since that point, no one’s given us a chance,” Eagles coach Doug Pederson said, referring to the quarterback’s Dec. 10 ACL tear. “I understand Carson’s a great player, but every week our guys are hearing the same thing. Now, all of a sudden, we’re not good enough? We’re 13-3, best record in football, home-field advantage throughout.

The Eagles will have their work cut out for them against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota got to the championship game all in part of a miracle play.

Jay-Z Set To Trademark “Jaybo” Character From “The Story Of O.J.” Video

TheSource Feed - Tue, 01/16/2018 - 6:52am

According to reports, Hip Hop mogul Sean “Jay-Z” Carter, has his sights set on trademarking the controversial “Jaybo” character from “The Story Of O.J.” video off his recently released 4:44 LP.

Jaybo was created in the mind of “Sambo”, the centerpiece of minstrel stereotypes created in the late 19th century-early 20th century, which still permeate African-American entertainers’ roles as well as reflect the juxtaposition of the African-American male in modern society.

Hov’s award winning video samples Nina Simone singing, “My skin is black,” and also features the 48-year-old rapping as images of cotton fields, burning crosses, slave ships and lynchings appear around the Jaybo character.

S. Carter Enterprises is planning to create products including T-shirts, sweaters, hats, blankets, pillows, dinnerware, mugs, cocktail shakers and thermal containers, featuring the controversial character, which was created from “The Little Black Sambo” character, originally animated in 1899.

SOURCE LATINO: Detroit-Based Immigrant Deported To Mexico After 30 Years In U.S.

TheSource Feed - Tue, 01/16/2018 - 6:29am

After spending three decades in the United States, a 39-year-old Michigan man was sent back to Mexico by ICE agents, according to the Detroit Free Press. Jorge Garcia was only 10 when he came to the US with his family. He was a child of undocumented immigrants.

Today, Garcia is married with two children, all of which are full US citizens. Previously, Garcia would be allowed to remain in the states after so many years but with the recent crackdown on immigrants under the Trump administration, he has been ordered to vacate.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Garcia said goodbye to his family at the Detroit Metro Airport on Monday. ICE agents escorted him onto a plane bound for Mexico.

Garcia told the paper that he had requested for ICE to wait until new DACA legislation is passed, but the agency denied his request.

Garcia said that he feels sad and worries about how his family will adapt without him being there to support them. The report acknowledged that Garcia is not allowed to reenter the United States for at least 10 years.

Garcia had been facing an order of removal from immigration courts since 2009, but under the previous administration, he had been given stays of removal. But because of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, Garcia was ordered in November to return to Mexico. His supporters say he has no criminal record — not even a traffic ticket — and pays taxes every year.

Nevertheless, Garcia had to be removed, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). On Monday morning, accompanied by ICE agents at Detroit Metro Airport, Garcia went through security as supporters around him held up signs that read, “Stop Separating Families.”

Happy Birthday To Hip Hop’s Angel Aaliyah (RIP)

TheSource Feed - Tue, 01/16/2018 - 6:16am

Today (January 16), the late beautiful songstress Aaliyah would have turned 39 years old. Although “Baby Girl’s” untimely death was during the peak of her music and acting career, Ms. Aaliyah Dana Haughton left an incredible mark on the lives of her family, loved ones and massive fan base across the world.

Aaliyah once graced us with hits such as ‘Age Ain’t Nothin’ But A Number,’ but today it is just a memory. Today we celebrate the birthday of the sultry singer and actress who was killed at the young age of 22, when her plane crashed in The Bahamas, on August 25, 2001.

At the time of Aaliyah’s death, she was engaged to rap mogul Damon Dash. She was topping the music charts with hits such as “Try Again,” “More Than A Woman,” and “I Miss You.” The multi-talented star was also making a name for herself in Hollywood, starring in movies Queen of The Damned and Romeo Must Die.

August 25th, 2001 was a tragic day for many of us as we lost this angel close to 1 years ago, but her legacy lives on stronger than ever.

Haitians Hold Protest in New York City over President Trump’s Remarks on MLK Day

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 11:29pm

The bitter cold temperatures on this Martin Luther King (MLK) Day did not keep the Haitians from protesting and showing their reaction to President Trump’s reported remarks about the country of Haiti and the continent of Africa. The rally started around 2:00 p.m. and was held in the Times Square area of Manhattan. The main stage of the rally was situated in the intersection of Broadway between 41st and 42nd Street. Cassady Kent, who attended the rally, said “I can’t believe people stayed this long in 28 degree weather.” “I hope Trump performs a miracle and turns the country against him.” “We need to unite, I think anything that anyone can do to unite this country is a positive thing” says Kent.

The rally was full of energy, music, and the speakers kept their speeches directed at one man and that was the President Trump. Although the rally was held to combat the depiction the President reportedly made about the country being a “shit hole”, wider issues were brought to the forefront like the end of the Temporary Protected Status program (TPS). Many Haitians were awarded the status due to the deadly earthquake in 2010 that devastated the country. Since President Trump decided not to renew TPS, if a solution to the problem isn’t provided, thousands will be sent back to Haiti where their future is uncertain.

Paul Joseph is a protester who has been affected by the end of the TPS program. “I’m happy that it was peaceful, and  I’m reminded of the famous Dr. Martin Luther King quote, In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends”. Joseph is a chemist and does not know what will happen if he cannot work in this country anymore. According to him, life in Haiti before the earthquake was comfortable, but a person with his skills he wonders if there will be a job for him. If he should go back to Haiti, Joseph says he will have to worry about having a roof over his head and food on his table.

Immigration has been a big issue since President Trump was elected to office. Issues surrounding Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients, TPS immigrants from other countries like El Salvador and Nicaragua affected by the end of the program have become prominent in the news recently.  David Roush, a protester at the rally, said “We are all under attack by white fascists, oligarchs, and plutocrats.” “We have to claim the public space before we lose it” said Roush. Several elected officials across the city like New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, New York City Councilman Mathieu Eugene attended the rally or similar events to show their support for the protesters.

Note: I couldn’t verify the veracity of the quote. While there are plenty of websites that attribute the quote to Dr. King, I couldn’t find the specific speech where he said the enemies line.

Journalists Offered Reward to Ask Trump About Relations Between U.S. And Fictional Country of “Wakanda” From ‘Black Panther’

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 7:33pm

As the White House and its allies seek to defend President Trump against accusations of racism following reports that he referred to African nations as “shithole countries,” one writer and comedian wants to get President Trump on the record about Wakanda. Yes, the fictional setting of Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster Black Panther.

Trump faces growing condemnation following a closed-door meeting with lawmakers about immigration, in which the president allegedly expressed frustration about people from Haiti, El Salvador and countries in Africa coming to the United States. Trump denied using the vulgar term on Friday, only for his assertions to be undercut by Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham. On Sunday, even as U.S. diplomats were summoned by foreign governments to explain the comments, Trump insisted, “I am not a racist.”

As the story gained steam on Friday, writer and stand-up comedian Sara Benincasa offered a $300 reward to any journalist “who very seriously asks Trump his opinion on our nation’s relations with Wakanda and gets the question and answer recorded live on video.” While Benincasa conceded that’s not a lot of money, she added, “I also know what most reporters make so … $300.”

The offer of the reward arrived just two days after Trump apparently misspoke when he announced delivery to Norway of F-52 fighter jets, which only exist in the video game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Wakanda will take center stage in director Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther, which opens Feb. 16, and then in Avengers: Infinity War, which arrives May 4.

UFC President Dana White Willing To Strip Conor McGregor Of Lightweight Championship If He Doesn’t Fight Soon

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 3:18pm

Conor McGregor hasn’t been in a UFC ring since November 2016… So why exactly his he still considered a UFC champion?

UFC President Dana White has said lightweight champion Conor McGregor would be stripped of his title if the 155-pound star does not fight until the latter’s preferred date of September.

MMAjunkie’s Mike Bohn reported on White’s recent comments regarding a meeting between interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and top title contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Dana White tells FS1 that UFC is working on Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov after Conor McGregor telling him he may not fight until September. Would McGregor be stripped? "Absolutely," he says.

— Mike Bohn (@MikeBohnMMA) January 15, 2018

“If (McGregor) comes back in September, that’s almost two years (since he won the title),” White said on the FS1 post-fight show. “That can’t happen. It’s not fair to everybody else. Love Conor, respect Conor, love everything that he’s done for this company. Everybody knows that. I say it all the time. (But) the belt would have to move on. You do Khabib (Nurmagomedov) vs. (interim champ) Tony Ferguson; we’re working on that fight now. If and when Conor comes back, he would get the first crack at the title.”

McGregor won the title in November 2016 with a second-round TKO win over Eddie Alvarez. Since that victory McGregor has only fought once, losing to Floyd Mayweather by TKO in the 10th round of a blockbuster boxing match that earned the UFC fighter a rumored $100 million.

Conor is a multi millionaire now and that’s mostly thanks to Mayweather. What drive to Fight in MMA isn’t there anymore and Conor needs to just admit that and not hold up younger fighters looking for championship glory in the UFC.

LeBron James Reflects On Martin Luther King Jr’s Legacy and Takes Shots at Donald Trump For Not Honoring That Legacy

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 3:09pm

LeBron James is no stranger to using his athletic fame as a vehicle to advocate for social justice and equality.  The MVP  has accused President Donald Trump of dividing the country while he reflected on Martin Luther King, Jr. and the way civil rights plays out on MLK Day 2018.

James is clear about his his feeling about President Trump. Since he has taken office, James has repeatedly challenged the current administration’s policies and rhetoric, framing them  as divisive and harmful.

“We are in a difficult state right now as Americans as well with the leader of our country. But us, like I said, no matter the religion, no matter the shapes and sizes, we all have to continue to come together and shine a brighter light on, you know, I mean, (I don’t want to) use the word stupidity, but that’s basically what it comes down to.”

Even with everything going on in this country today, LeBron still wanted to make sure MLK’s legacy still remain the focal point and salute the NBA for everything they have done to honor King’s legacy.

“I think it’s unbelievable what the NBA has done. To be able to have this many games, a lot of great games today, on such a great day. For a man who stood for more than himself. You always hear people saying, ‘risking their life.’ He (King) actually gave up his life for the betterment of all of us to be able to live in a free world and for us to be able to have a voice, for us to go out and be free no matter your skin color, no matter who you are, no matter the height and size and the weight or whatever the case may be, wherever you are, he had a vision and he took a bullet for all of us. Literally. In the rawest form that you could say that. He literally took a bullet for us.”

A Confident Jalen Ramsey Promises A Jacksonville Jaguars Super Bowl Victory Before AFC Championship

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 2:49pm

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a date with the New England Patriots next Sunday in the AFC championship game.

After the Jaguars’ 45-42 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field yesterday afternoon, Jalen Ramsey and his teammates returned to EverBank Field in Jacksonville where they were greeted by fans at a post-game rally.

That’s when the second-year star defensive back made his bold prediction.

"We goin' to the Super Bowl. AND we gon' win that b—h"

— Jalen Ramsey to the crowd of Jaguars fans at EverBank Field pic.twitter.com/fE2jSx3Pj1

— Sports Illustrated (@SInow) January 15, 2018

Ramsey, who was selected to his first Pro Bowl this season and was a first-team All-Pro, is fully aware that his Super Bowl guarantee is absolutely meaningless if he and his teammates don’t go out there next Sunday with that same energy they did against Pittsburgh.

However, nobody has rallied under the role underdog this season like the Jaguars. Their quarterback has been at the top of many jokes all season. Even in victories, the offense of the Jaguars gets no love.

The Jaguars have all the tools to make the New England Patriots and Most’s importantly Tom Brady feel very uncomfortable come Sunday afternoon.

Keep in mind, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had just tagged them for 469 passing yards and five touchdowns while holding a 110.5 passer rating on Sunday afternoon. Although Ramsey is quite confident that the Jaguars can get the job done, it will be foolish to overlook the defending champions, who now have extra bulletin board material with his latest comments.

Jay-Z’s ‘4:44’ Tour Becomes Highest Grossing Solo Tour Despite Low Ticket Sales

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 2:33pm

Last year, Jay-Z was accused of selling tickets for as low as $6 for his 4:44 tour on Stub-Hub. Whether it was true or not, it seems like there were no negative effects. Mr. Carter’s legal team responded to the accusations with facts stating that the tour was doing just fine. According to Billboard, “by pricing tickets closer to actual market value, Jay-Z and Live Nation are capturing more revenue and creating little room for brokers to mark up the best seats.”

Many thought that Jay’s business decision was not a smart move, but by the looks of it, it was the best thing he could have done. The rappers  4:44 tour has become his highest grossing solo tour ever earning $48.7 million with 32 shows in two months and beating his Magna Carter Tour by 21 percent.

“This tour will be the biggest headlining tour of Jay’s career,” says Omar Al- Joulani, VP of touring at Live Nation.

Mr. Carter’s whole purpose for pricing tickets closer to actual market value was to take the pricing pressure off the upper- level seating sections causing a paradigm in ticket sales. By raising the seat prices on front row seats, VIP experiences, and platinum tickets this lowered tickets prices for all other seating tremendously, which allowed more fans to attend the show at an affordable cost.  This resulted in a seven figure per night gross.  Patrick Ryan with ticketing and inventory company Eventellect says,

“This might be the future of ticketing. We are seeing many creative pricing strategies and we are seeing artist find what works for them. You generate a ton of revenue up front, but you still have a $25 price point that makes it more affordable for individuals who want to see an arena show.”

A Minnesota Miracle leads the Vikings to NFC Championship

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 2:06pm

With 10 seconds remaining on the game clock, the Vikings receive the football at their own 39 yard line. Minnesota is out of timeouts. They are out of options. And will be out of a season if they do not redefine impossible. They trail the New Orleans Saints, 24-27. Quarterback Case Keenum takes the snap and fires a pass down the sideline to leading Wide Receiver, Stefon Diggs. Diggs jumps, makes the catch and comes down… untouched.

This is where the magic happens.

Diggs keeps his balance by staying in bounds, sprints down the sideline and into the end zone as time expires. Vikings Win!

Watch the amazing play below:

On both sidelines, everyone is stuck, stunned and stoned. From players, to fans and other Minnesota faithfuls, the post game reactions were priceless. An emotional Stefon Diggs stood with ESPN’s Josena Anderson just minutes after being on the receiving end on the 1st, time expiring, game winning touchdown in NFL postseason history.

“God put me in this position,” and said Diggs. “Damn that s**t feel good.”

The third year receiver led the Vikings this season with 8 touchdowns this season.

Prior to the Miracle

The Vikings came out the gate, swinging. They held Drew Brees and the Saints scoreless in the first half. Up by 17, they withstood the Saints offensive prowess. Brees linked up with Michael Thomas for two out of the three touchdowns passes in the second half. The Saints kicked a 43- yard field goal to take the lead with 25 seconds left on the clock.

On the final play, Saints defensive back, Marcus Williams, misses what would have been a game saving tackle.

The Vikings will head to Philadelphia to play the Eagles in the NFC Title Game. The winner will advance to Super Bowl LLI and will face the winner of the Patriots and Jaguars of the AFC. NFL Championship Sunday begins next week Jan. 21. The NFL playoffs 2018 is shaping to extraordinary.

‘Captain Save A Hoe’ Author Fires Back at E-40 With Countersuit Over Trademark

TheSource Feed - Mon, 01/15/2018 - 12:05pm

Just late last year in November, E-40 filed a lawsuit against author Erika Kane and her publishers Vodka & Milk Publishing for her book Captain Save a Hoe, which is the same title as his 1993 hit song, accusing the author of copyright infringement. The California rapper claims to own rights to the phrase “Captain Save a Hoe” and found the author using the phrase verbatim as well as the song’s central character, the captain.

Of course, 40 was not too fond of the said author profiting off of his innovation. He filed a trademark for “Captain Save a Hoe” back in 2014, aiming to secure the makes of clothing and entertainment businesses. According to the lawsuit, 40 finds the book to have “substantially” and “confusingly” similar tenure factors from the song’s name, character, and overall composition.

“Specifically, Defendants have wrongfully appropriated the proprietary CAPTAIN SAVE A HOE name and superhero character elements in violation of Plaintiff’s rights in the Composition and character created and described therein,” cites the suit. “Defendants’ book and character described therein is an infringing derivative work of Plaintiff’s Composition including the structure, format, elements and even certain identical verbiage is copied.”

The Captain Save a Hoe author’s publishing company filed a counterclaim in response to the lawsuit, alleging E-40’s trademark filing was incomplete, therefore his rights to the “Captain Save a Hoe” phrase is currently void and also making claims that the market audience of E-40 and Erika Kane are two completely different sectors of people, which eliminate confusion on the book’s foundation being that of 40’s. The counterclaim also reveals other books have been published using the “Captain Save a Hoe” phrase, including a self-help book titled,  The Misadventures of Captain-Save-a-Hoe.

According to Vodka and Milk Publishing, E-40 has not lost any revenue since the release of the Captain Save a Hoe book, and is seeking financial damages against him due to the allegation The Click rapper made removal requests on Amazon and ordered several retail avenue to cancel orders, inconveniencing author Erika Kane financially, which will be proven at trial.

E-40’s attorney, Michael P. Martin disputes the counterclaim “lacks merit” and according to Billboard, a motion will be filed to dismiss the claim. He also argues the initial trademark filing includes a “Captain Save a Hoe” book series and finds the existence of the Kane make a severe conflict with the book’s potential success.

“The Defendants’ decision to use E-40’s well known character and song title without his authorization gave us no choice but to enforce his rights or risk losing them,” Attorney Michael P. Martin tells Billboard. “In addition to his rights in the composition, song title and lyrics, E-40 holds senior trademark rights to the mark ‘Captain Save a Hoe’ for clothing as well as an entertainment series that he is developing. The series of books published by Defendant infringes upon these rights because books and entertainment series, regardless of the medium, are related properties.”

Does E-40 have a solid case here? Or does Erika Kane have to reevaluate her blueprint and upgrade her sense of creativity?

Thomas’ 85 year sentence was part of a plea deal he accepted in December. Had he not taken the plea, reports say that the father of five could’ve received a life sentence with no chance for parole. Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey acknowledged that down the road there is a chance for parole for the shooter although he does not expect that to ever happen. Bailey believes Thomas will die in jail.

Before his murder, Doe B was blazing to be Grand hustle’s premiere artist. The eye patch wearing rapper released his Baby Jesus mixtape five months before he was killed. The the 20-track mixtape hosted by DJ Scream had production from Metro Boomin, Zaytoven and others with features from B.O.B., Young Dro, Rich Homie Quan and many others.

T.I. released Doe’s posthumous mixtape Definition of a Trapper 3 in April 2014. Doe B’s last projet features T.I. as well as Kevin Gates, Young Dro, Spodee, and Trae tha Truth.
