Paris Jackson Celebrates 20th with Chris Brown, Paris Hilton and More

TheSource Feed - Sun, 04/08/2018 - 12:01pm

Paris Jackson turned 20 earlier this week, and she brought in her birthday among close family and friends. A few people who were seen at her celebration included Chris Brown, her brother Prince Jackson, Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross at HYDE Sunset in West Hollywood.

Paris shined at her celebration in a retro 60’s inspired look with stand out pink hair. She also had a beautiful custom birthday cake in which she enlisted the help of Chris Brown to blow out her candles. Overall, it seems like Paris had a great birthday and is on the road towards positivity and growth as an aspiring model and actress.

2013 was a heavy year for 15-year-old Paris, as she struggled to get out of her depression and anxiety that led to her attempted suicide. Recently, she shared a bit about that time saying “It was just self-hatred, low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore, I’m a completely different person…I was crazy. I was actually crazy.”

Paris is a different person now, as she has the support of her family and friends. Other notable attendees to her party included Thirty Seconds To Mars’ Jared Leto and other members of the Hilton family, including Kathy, Ricky, and Paris Hilton’s Fiancée, Chris Zylka.

Cardi B Reveals Her Baby Bump During SNL Performance

TheSource Feed - Sun, 04/08/2018 - 11:51am

Cardi B continually supplies the Bardi Gang with gifts. Just after releasing her debut album Invasion of Privacy, Cardi officially ended all rumors, and confirmed her pregnancy. It was during her performance, as the musical guest of Saturday Night Live show, hosted by Chadwick Boseman, that she casually slipped on a form fitting dress that showed her growing baby bump. The form -fitting white dress did not make an appearance until her second time on stage, as she first came out with a feathered adornment that covered most of her body.

Reports reveal that Cardi B is seven months pregnant with her first child with her fiancé Offset. This will not be the first child for Offset, as he has two other children from previous relationships. Also, there is a bit of controversy surrounding Celine Powell, who has recently been claiming Offset as the father of her child. However, congratulations are in order for Cardi B and Offset who will very soon have a bundle of joy.

Belly & NAV Team Up for “Maintain”

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 11:13am

Belly teams up with NAV for a new track titled “Maintain.” The Canadian pair are two of the latest buzz-worthy artists rising from Canada. With Belly being signed to Roc Nation and NAV being XO’s protégé, the song is a natural outcome of the two’s harmonic musical chemistry on a track. If I had to guess, we could be hearing more from the duo in the future.

The song “Maintain” is a hypnotic and laid-back but full-body song which floats over a mid-tempo beat. Belly kicks off the hook by structuring it around “we just tryna maintain” setting the tone for NAV to do what he does best and carries out his signature sound. The track follows Belly’s other recent team-up “4 Days” with YG.

With the XO campaign growing strong, this is just an insight to what fans can expect from Belly’s upcoming project Midnight Zone.

In other news, Belly will play iHeartRadio’s FanFest in Toronto alongside DVBBS, French Montana and more on May 11 at REBEL. Stream “Maintain” below. Meanwhile, NAV will be going on his own ‘Freshman Tour’ with 88Glam which  kick off April 24 in Santa Ana and end in Detroit, Michigan on May 23rd.

Chrissy Teigen Responds To Cardi B Wanting Threesome With Her & Rihanna

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 10:58am

Cardi B’s highly anticipated debut album Invasion Of Privacy recently dropped to the utmost pleasure of the Bardi Gang.

Cardi B has been teasing fans for a while as she’s been claiming how much time and work she has been putting into the album. Now, the album is here and fans can now truly sit back and enjoy the already well-received project. It appears that Invasion of Privacy has already gone gold. The previous success of her “Bodak Yellow” track, which went 5X Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, is equal to 5 million units. 10 track units alone equal 1 album sale so Invasion of Privacy was able to move up 500,000 units just on the power of “Bodak Yellow.”

There are many notable lyrics and moments on the album but one moment in particular has brought upon many reactions in the Twitter universe. Her track “She Bad” featuring YG insinuated her desire for a threesome with Rihanna and Chrissy Teigan.

Cardi spits

“Spoil me in Prada, I’m worth every dollar (cash)/ The one you made, could keep ‘em (yeah)/ I need Chrissy Teigen/ Know a bad bitch when I see one (yeah, woo)/ Tell Rih-Rih I need a threesome”

The verse immediately sparked a response from Twitter and Chrissy even joined in with a response of her own as she tweeted “Gasp!! *drops biscuits.*” Chrissy’s response isn’t entirely a “no” so now the ball is in Rihanna’s court to respond as well.

Drake Drops “Nice For What” Visual Featuring Yara Shahidi, Issa Rae, and Tiffany Haddish

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 10:49am

Drake notified fans that in 24 hours he would drop new music on Friday and he did not disappoint.

On Friday, “Nice For What” dropped and Twitter immediately went crazy. “Nice For What” sidetracks from the typical Drake singles where he talks about relationships with women and instead this track is all about celebrating a strong woman. Depicted in the visuals are many influential and strong women in their prime. Misty Copeland is seen dancing away, Yara Shahidi powerfully looks into the camera in her Harvard sweatshirt and Zoe Saldana is depicted loving on her family and kids.

It’s clear that this song is a celebration of women and that what women bring to the table should be respected and uplifted. Drake hones this point as he spits

“You really pipin’ up on these niggas/you gotta be nice for what to these niggas?”

Misty Copeland, Yara Shahidi, and Zoe Saldana are not the only people to make an appearance in the visual but Olivia Wilde, Issa Rae, Tiffany Hadish, Jourdan Dunn, Rashida Jones, Tracee Ellis Ross and Black Panther‘s Letitia Wright and many more were represented in this visual.

It is not verified that “Nice For What” will make an appearance in Drake upcoming album but it definitely keeps fans on their toes in anticipation. Watch “Nice For What” above.

Blac Chyna’s Stroller Fight Doesn’t Affect Her Headphone Deal

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 10:29am

One thing about Blac Chyna is that despite her lifestyle choices she never plays with her money.

Recently, Blac Chyna was seen swinging a pink baby stroller at Six Flags as she was held back from entering into a fight. The aftermath from this incident has led to much controversy and even a possible custody battle with Rob Kardashian. However, Blac Chyna continues to remain unaffected as one of her sponsors TUNES Audio vouches for her and continuing business.

TMZ has recently reported that the executive John Chase of TUNES Audio stated that he holds no qualms from continuing business and in fact the business is as strong as ever even after the stroller incident. Chase also revealed that Chyna has been a complete professional throughout their entire dealings and does not feel any reason to discontinue working with her. The loyalty of her TUNES Audio deal is important for Chyna as she lost another endorsement deal for a baby stroller line with Momiie who did not share the same confidence as John Chase.

However, TMZ reported that Chyna’s professionalism with Chase might even garner her an additional line of headphones marketed to children. Also Step 2, which is the brand of the stroller she is seen swinging in the video has recently shouted her out. All of this seems to point to the conclusion that no matter what happens it seems that Chyna has her money and her brand on lock.

The NBA Is Entering The Esports Realm With The Creation Of The NBA 2K League

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 10:14am

Esports is a huge business and the NBA is ready to enter that realm.

This past week, the NBA and 2K Sports held the first-ever NBA 2K League Draft. The players involved in the league will be paid a salary and receive benefits for the length of their six-month contracts, as gaming essentially becomes their job.

The NBA 2K League is a professional esports league that was co-founded by the NBA and Take-Two Interactive Software (the creators of NBA 2K). The league is about to start its inaugural season, with 17 of the NBA’s 30 franchises participating. The season begins in May and concludes in August. In addition to weekly games, the league will have three in-season tournaments and a postseason (with $1 million in prize money up for grabs at these events). The hope is that this league will resonate with NBA fans and esports fans alike.

“From the NBA standpoint, this is our fourth league,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said. “We have the NBA, (the) WNBA and the G League. And now this is the fourth league in our family, and that’s exactly how we’re treating it.

While esports has exploded in some corners, it has struggled to gain traction with sports video games. Low viewership numbers and several controversies have damaged already shaky credibility. With the NBA being fully on board, there will be plenty of room to grow as long the NBA stays committed for the long haul.

New York Billboard Challenges LeBron James To Come To The New York Knicks

TheSource Feed - Sat, 04/07/2018 - 10:05am

LeBron James proclaims not just the King, but also the King of New York. There is a billboard challenging James to prove that theory to be true.

A Knicks-themed billboard, which has been paid for by NYCAdsCo, recently went up on 7th Avenue between 31st and 32nd streets, facing the main entrance to MSG. It reads, “King of New York? Prove it,” along with the hashtag, #KingJamesNYC18.

#Repost @nbaonespn ・・・ That's one way to get LeBron's attention. @kingjames #kingjamesnyc18

A post shared by Major Market Media (@nycadsco) on Apr 6, 2018 at 9:46am PDT

For the uninitiated, the message is referencing a moment last November when LeBron declared himself the Big Apple’s king after a comeback victory over the Knicks.

LeBron and the Cavs will see the billboard up close on Monday, April 9, when they make the trip to New York for their final appearance at the Garden this season

The billboard is just the latest one to try to woo LeBron into signing a contract this off-season as, previously, signs went up in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Akron.  LeBron will have plenty of suitors this off-season clamoring for his services. But for now, he and the Cavs are focused on making it to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season.

Levels: Meek Mill’s Appeal Could Reach PA Supreme Court

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 1:51pm

It seems like the entire state of Pennsylvania has stood firmly behind Meek Mill during his fight for freedom. A myriad of celebrities, the Eagles, the 76ers, the district attorney…  everyone except Judge Genece Brinkley.

Back in 2013, Meek professed it was “Levels” to this shit. With this in mind, his appeal could reach the Pennsylvania Supreme Court–levels above Judge Brinkley.

Earlier this week we reported Judge Brinkley’s denial of bail, citing what she called “sufficient evidence” of violating probationary terms despite Philadelphia’ s D.A., Larry Krasner support his release.

Consequently, Krasner continues to work diligently on Meek’s behalf. He has now filed a motion with the higher court in support of the MC’s release. In the motion, he implies he “does not oppose defendant’s application to the extent he requests release on bail pending the current proceedings, but opposes all other requested relief at this time.”

Fans can breathe a temporary sigh of relief. We now know Judge Brinkley is no longer the authority in this case. Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina spoke in an optimistic tone as he addressed the new developments:

“We are encouraged by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s steadfast stance in not opposing Meek Mill’s release on bail at the Pennsylvania Supreme Court level while the current legal proceedings continue, even in light of Judge Brinkley’s vindictive and erroneous decision.”

However, there is no timetable for how long it takes before the court addresses the case.

In the meantime, 76ers rookies, Ben Simmons and Markelle Fultz recently visited the MC in prison. Thankfully they say “Meek’s spirits are still high.”

We will be paying close attention to the situation as it continues to develop. #FreeMeekMill

21 Savage Will Pay Funeral Costs For Child Killed In Drive-By

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 1:16pm

21 Savage will cover the cost of the funeral for the 3-year-old killed in a drive-by shooting on Easter. T’Rhigi Diggs was shot in the chest as his mother, Roshonda Craig, drove past a Texaco station in Atlanta.

According to Roshonda, she saw people in a car with paintball guns before the real gunshot rang out. Paintball wars have been a new trend in Atlanta and it seems that the young boy was just caught in the crossfire. This new fad has been associated with 21 Savage as he has been seen in video with paintball guns. However, Dekalb police have decided that this shooting had nothing to do with the rapper. The rapper is a family friend and has lifted a weight off of the family’s shoulder Craig told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The funeral is scheduled for April 7th.

Lamar Odom Opening Marijuana Business

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 12:45pm

Lamar Odom’s playing days are behind him but like many other former athletes, he’s getting into big business.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star forward is launching a new line of products that he claims helped him get through his intense substance abuse treatment and recovery.

According to The Blast, Odom’s new venture is called Rich Soil Orangics.

“While going through rehab, I discovered certain strains that support wellness,” Odom said. “Friends, associates, and ex-teammates asked me what solutions I was using on my road back to recovery, and that’s when Rich Soil Organics was born. It’s a perfect time to offer these cannabis solutions to the public who may be going through similar body issues as I am.”

Odom’s Rich Soil Organics, will open later this year in California and provide products Odom believes can help others. Marijuana is legal in California, and it became the country’s largest state to offer legal marijuana sales at the beginning of 2018.

In 2015, Odom made headlines after being found unresponsive at a brothel in Las Vegas. He reportedly took cocaine and 10 doses of Viagra-like medication. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support after suffering several strokes and kidney failure. He spent four days in a coma.

Odom’s name hasn’t been circulating for some time now. Maybe the cannabis has helped him out and now is the perfect time to get into the business while the demand is out there.

Meek Mill’s Judge is No Longer on His Case

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 12:18pm

Meek Mill‘s release from prison may become reality very soon.

The Philadelphia rapper was originally sentenced to jail for violating probation. As a result, the hip-hop community went into an uproar. His supporters stemmed from political activists, athletes, and entertainers from all walks of life. Drake wore a Free Meek t-shirt during a performance late last year. The Toronto rapper also shouted Meek Mill out in his rendition of Jay-Z‘s “Family Feud.” You can recall the 2015 beef that pinned the rappers against each other after Meek’s questioning of Drake’s pen. Nonetheless, Drake understands the magnitude of injustice, despite their recent history.

As far as the legal matters, the “Ima Boss” rapper remains behind bars. According to those who have visited Meek Mill in prison, he continues to keep his spirits high and is hopeful justice will be served.

One thing that everyone has agreed on is the rapper’s unfair sentencing. Judge Genece Brinkley brought personal matters in her place of work rather than utilizing the judicial system. Her line of work affects the livelihood of people on a daily basis.

Thanks to Philly’s District Attorney Larry Krasner, Brinkley no longer has any say on Meek Mill’s case. It will now be decided by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, according to Philadelphia’s ABC 6.

The likelihood of Meek coming home has only increased, with Brinkley being off the case. Expect more news in the upcoming weeks about the MMG rapper’s freedom.

Today In Hip Hop History: Nas Releases His Third LP ‘I Am’ 19 Years Ago

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 11:30am

Released by Columbia Records, Nas‘ third album, I Am, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album sold 470,000 copies in its first week and went on to be certified double platinum in the United States. The album was nominated in 2000 for Best Rap album at the 43rd Grammy Awards.

Originally intended to be a double album titled I Am…The Autobiography, the album was arguably Nas’ most honest and poetic project at the time. Although the additional tracks were scrapped due to bootlegging of the original sessions, the intention for the theme and tone of the project can still be felt on the single disc LP that was released.

Nas’ cover art has always been an iconic staple of his work. Usually consisting of his face superimposed over his native Queens, each cover has served as a visual representation of Nas as an artist. This particular cover was shot by famed portrait photographer Danny Hastings. In order to create the image of Nas’ face in the Pharaoh mask in a pre-Photoshop world, Hastings created a clay mold for Nas’ face (which in fact almost killed him when clay got lodged in his nostrils, nearly suffocating him).

This album wasn’t only popular in the United States. I Am… made appearances on music charts in Australia, Canada, Norway, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The two official singles from this project claimed spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Nas Is Like..” peaked at #86 and “Hate Me Now” climbed a little higher to take the #62 spot.

After the release of this album, Nas went on to release seven more solo albums and two collaborative projects. Nas continues to perform and is known as one of the most prolific rappers of his or any generation. Take some time today to listen to this album appreciate the career of a living legend.

After Dropping ‘The Last OG’, Jordan Peele Sets Eyes On Next Project- Lorena Bobbitt DocuSeries

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 11:21am

Riding high off his success for Get Out, Jordan Peele sets his eyes on Lorena, the woman behind the media frenzy.

Peele is poised to uncover the real Lorena Bobbitt, and not the woman sensationalized by national headlines. If you’re not in the know Lorena Bobbitt rose to infamy for daring to cut of the male member of her husband. She then threw John Wayne Bobbit’s left over man bits into an abandoned field. Wrath has no fury like a woman scorned.

.@JordanPeele: "With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice" https://t.co/SH9AxqyWDn

— Hollywood Reporter (@THR) April 5, 2018

Back in 1994 a jury acquitted Lorena by reason of temporary insanity. Lorena’s allegations of domestic and sexual abuse against her husband are behind her reasoning for lashing out. Or “slashing out against” might be a better phrase against the husband for whom  she finally whom she divorced in 1995. Her actions caused a media frenzy that took the nation by storm, so this docuseries is Peele’s opportunity to give Lorena a platform to tell her story. Lorena will be part of the project and will lend her insight to those shocking events years ago.

Jordan Peele had this to say to Entertainment Weekly:

When we hear the name ‘Bobbitt’ we think of one of the most sensational incidents to ever be catapulted into a full blown media spectacle,…With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice.

Former husband, John Wayne Bobbit ultimately was able to have his manhood reattached after the incident. John Wayne was also acquitted of marital sexual assault, and starred in a string of adult films in the mid-1990s for having a famous Johnson at the time. Lorena chose to handle her fame a little differently. She founded Lorena’s Red Wagon, a charity to help domestic violence victims and their children back in 2007.

Jordan Peele continues to ride a wave of success and just celebrated the release of TBS’ The Last O.G., which premiered Tuesday and stars Tracy Morgan. Peele was co-creator of this ambitious and hilarious project. What’s next in store for one of Hollywood’s brightest black directors and screenwriters?  He reportedly has a Twilight Zone reboot for CBS All Access in the development stages, not to mention a project with HBO called Lovecraft Country.

Here’s a look at The Last O.G. here:

Wale Gives His Pitch To Record Labels on New Track “Negotiations”

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 10:58am

Wale has been on his independent grind since he and Atlantic Records parted ways in February and he’s keeping it going with his new record, “Negotiations”. The lyrical bar fest comes a few weeks after his surprise 4-track EP It’s Complicated that was released through his independent venture Every Blue Moon along with Maybach Music Group.

The Ayo n Keyz produced track may give fans some nostalgia for the More About Nothing Wale who was displaying creative lyrical ability and was undeniably hungry for the top spot. Throughout the song, Wale addresses problems he has with the industry and how he feels overlooked because of his subject matter. The rapper feels that he’s looked at as crazy although Wale would describe his behavior as passionate. Fans might remember the phone call Complex got from Wale after his third album, The Gifted didn’t make Complex’s top 30 albums of the year list.

Wordplay Le’ currently finds himself in a similar situation to his hungry early days when he got out of his deal with Interscope Records and went back independent before signing to Warner Bros. Records through Rick Ross‘ MMG imprint. Wale was recently on the Rap Radar podcast discussing how he is sitting down with labels as he seeks his next contract but is enjoying being a free agent for now. Whatever deal the “Black Bonnie” MC signs next, more than anything he just wants to make sure that he gets proper marketing on his next album.

First Dr. Octagon Album Dropped Today After 22 Years

TheSource Feed - Fri, 04/06/2018 - 10:33am

In 1996 the collaborative effort between Kool Keith, Dan The Automator and DJ Q-Bert resulted in the unconventional but widely regarded cult classic, Dr Octagonecologyst – A tale of an extra-terrestrial time traveling gynecologist and surgeon from the planet Jupiter. Most certainly unlike anything that has ever come before it, there was however a follow up 10 years later in 2006 titled The Return Of Dr. Octagon but with the lack of Dan The Automator production and the contractual problems leading to Kool Keith not having a lot of impact on the final product most fans ignore its position in Dr. Octagon canon.

Fast forward to 2018 and the band is back together again with their new album titled Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation. The first single “Octagon, Octagon” got even the most skeptical of Keith fans’ mouths watering. Production wise it picks up right where the debut album left off. The boom bap drums accompanied by Automator’s spaced out sound selection give off the vibe of the main title scene from a sci-fi horror movie. As for Kool Keith, well he sounds refreshed and more focused than he has in a long time. You can hear the direction in his voice, it sounds like he knows exactly where Dr. Octagon is going.

If the single “Area 54” is anything to go by then this album is going to be one to listen to from start to finish. In an age of YouTube wonders and SoundCloud singles, the three members of Dr. Octagon have crafted a full-length multi-track work of art. They aren’t trying to be the next anything except a better version of their last outing. With some familiar samples sprinkled over the neck snapping breakbeat, they have managed to make this actually sound like a sequel album, not just an album that has a sequel for the title.

The first official video released from the record is “Flying Waterbed” – a visual ode to martial arts cinema and exploitation film. An infectious 2 bar horn sample that is manipulated into somewhat of a hypnotic soundtrack for Keith to space surf around vocally. Verse wise it is best to not ask questions; let’s just say that the record is anything but predictable. It’s not the type of lyricism that warrants critique, as no one except Keith really knows what the end game is here. Interpol singer Paul Banks lends his voice to the single for a trippy and psychedelic hook which comforts the rest of the song rather than overshadowing it like a lot of hip-hop singles that feature singers seem to do.

All in all this album sounds like a very warm welcome back to concept albums and dare we say it… the DJ. DJ Q-Bert’s contributions to the recordings at times expose what a lot of rappers have been leaving out. Welcome back Doc, you have been missed.

Westside Gunn And Mr. Green Team Up For EP “FLYGOD Is Good… All The Time”

There has been a lot of talk about Westside Gunn lately as he and his brother Conway the Machine got the cosign from Eminem and signed to Shady Records for their solo albums in 2017. Now a year later and seemingly out of nowhere comes this quick strike collaboration EP between the Buffalo, New York MC and New Jersey native producer, Mr. Green – whose past production credits include Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, Lee Scratch Perry, Jedi Mind Tricks and R.A. The Rugged Man.

There is an old saying that sometimes “less is more” and with a total running time of just under 15 minutes, this doesn’t give the listener a chance to feel any type of content fatigue. “Less is more” seems to be a running theme not just with the length of the project but also with the makeup of some of the actual music. There are no fancy vocal layering’s, no intricate beat break downs and build-ups and the EP’s finale “Brazy” strips things back so much that the song doesn’t even have drums, but, it works. There is no glitz and glamour to hide behind and Westside Gunn has no problems bringing his skills to centre stage and letting them do the talking.

Lyrically, “Eight Seconds” is a stand out as Westside really hits his stride with the street braggadocio.

“The block filled with chemist, but never passed chemistry/ Now I pulled up on my chemistry teacher in the Wraith like “remember me?”

The one verse track can’t help but leave you wanting him to elaborate, showcasing the beauty in keeping things short and sharp. The vocabulary and phrase selection is at times sharp and rough, almost confronting, which definitely matches the gritty and unapologetically raw drums and sample selections.

While this release doesn’t exactly move out of any comfort zones it is apparent that the two artists involved know what they do well and are more than happy to keep doing it. It is a very solid extension to both Westside Gunn and Mr. Green’s discography, even if it is not designed to open any new doors for the duo but reinforce their already solid platforms.
